The Hurricane cocktail appeared approximately in the 40s of the XX century in the French quarter of New Orleans (USA). The recipe was invented at Pat O'Brien's Bar, but the name of the author has not been preserved in history.
The cocktail got its name for two reasons: firstly, the state of Louisina, where New Orleans is located, is often subjected to hurricanes. Secondly, the drink is served in a glass of hurricane - translated from English - a hurricane.
