Description

In the form in which we know this cocktail today, it was invented in 1925 in one of the Parisian bars with an American theme, Garry's New York Bar. The cocktail was created for a reason. In those years, the United States had a "dry law". Gin was then easier to get, but it also had to be disguised as a soft drink. Thanks to the fact that a certain Harry, who owned a bar in Paris, made such a “camouflage” cocktail, the recipe for the drink became popular in the United States.
Despite the fact that it contains gin and sparkling, lime or lemon juice and sugar syrup mask the alcohol well. The taste of the cocktail was very reminiscent of lemonade and, accordingly, did not arouse suspicion.
